The Beginning of my Weight Loss Journey.

Im a 33 year old mother of 3 gorgeous boys. Before I had them, 9 years ago, I was skinny. Now I am blah and drastically over weight. Last weighed I am roughly 98kg. I am determined to lose at least 25kg, but I would love to get to 65kg and I would love it done asap. However I know if I lose weight fast, it will pile back on faster. So its the sensible way for me.

I am one of those people who always says "I'll start my diet on Monday", but Monday comes and goes and I never start this so called diet, or health kick. For one I am a mother of 3 boys, 7, 6 and a 17 month old, so I generally feel exhausted and drained and the last thing I want to think about is..'did I go for my walk today', or 'Really I should be eating a carrot or celery stick instead of this tim tam". I go for what is easy, fast and whatever will give me a quick energy boost to get me through the next hour. So its normally a coffee, or something far too sugary.

But, thanks to an very honest (or shall I say a too honest for his own good), 6yr old, who makes comments that refer to "Mummies fat jiggly tummy" and then thinks its hilarious to lose his hand in it. Then I have Mr 17 month old who when having a bottle or is on the boob, his favourite thing to play with is my fat deposit under my jaw. Yep I have a massive double chin that jiggles and wobbles and he can grab onto.

Also things aren't made any better when my favourite jeans and tops keep shrinking in the wash.. yes that is my excuse and I am sticking to it. But as you can tell, I am in denial and as much as I wish I could say that I am loving it, but in actual fact, I feel horrid and hate my body in every way possible. My once skinny ankles are slowly turning into cankles, and my once hour glass shape, now has grown an extra tyre or two. Then when I go for a walk or I have to run after the kids, I feel everything move. So it is times, yes time, for me to get healthy and lose some weight.

I am going to do things differently, I am not, and I repeat NOT, going to do a massive over haul. My body will go into shock and like times before, it won't last. So I am going to set myself challenges...small challenges, that will over time mean I have changed alot. These changes include things like, cutting down on my lattes and having teas, walking at least 30 minutes 5 times a week, replace pasta's with gluten free pasta and cut down on sugar....aaahhhh, yes that means chocolate, ice cream. You know, all those staple foods in an unhealthy diet. But most off all, I need to start eating properly.. 3 meals a day and a healthy snacks in between.

Each week I will post a pic of myself in the same clothes (singlet and shorts), with a pic of when I start. That way we can all pick out what has changed and have a joke about it all. I will also be using a couple of applications to help me out, one for my weight and measurements, the others for motivation for me when I exercise. And each week I will let everyone know how I am going and if I have lost any weight and when my energy levels have gone up from 0.

I am human, so there are times I will fail, but that is me and I will admit it. My main aim is to lose weight, tone up, feel good and have alot more energy to chase after my sons and have fun. There are far too many benefits. I will admit it, I cant wait to lose weight so my 6yr old can stop making fun of me, but instead, be proud of what I have done.

I will start of slowly  I will walk 30 minutes a day, I will replace at least 2 of my coffees with tea or water and I will cut back on sugar and carbs. I will also be adding in a couple of activities, thanks to some great apps, and dusting off my wii and the exercise games that I used to lose weight for my wedding 4 years ago.

So here are the apps:
RUNTASTIC SITUPS: Each day you are give a certain amount of situps to do, you are timed, and you are given a minute between each sets. Its easy to use and the instructions are pretty clear. Once you start, and lay down on the ground, you place you phone on you chest and every time you do a sit up it registers... for me, as newbie to apps, I thought this was pretty cool. Also at the end, you can do as many as you can and each day, you can improve on it. And, as extra motivation, you are given badges at certain stages and at different achievements, like once you get to 50 situps.

RUNTASTIC PUSHUPS: Ok, so I am hopeless at doing pushups. For one that used to be able to do close to 100, I can barely make it to 10. For me, this is a great app, and once again I am astounded at how the sensors work. Once you get started you place the phone on the ground, under where your head would touch. Then once you get low enough, it beeps at you and you do the push up. Once again, it gives you a certain amount to do, and as a beginner I thought it was pretty easy. There is a break between reps, and once again at the end you have, like a free play, where you do as many as you can. Then you try and improve on it the following day.

RUNTASTIC SQUATS: For me this is pretty easy and I can do while Im in the kitchen, while waiting for dinner to cook or even when I'm waiting for the toast to pop up. It is exactly the same as the previous two. However, you hold your phone in your hand and when you have gone low enough it beeps for you to go up.

Great app to track walking. You are tracked by GPS, so you know the distance you are walking and also times you. You can load up your map to facebook and other social media pages. There are other healthy tips within this app.. I am yet to fully explore. There is both the free app, which from my understanding does not have everything the full version has, Or you can pay for the full version.

BODY MONITOR: I will be using this one once a week. This is an app where you can keep track of your weight loss, through both weight and measurements. Its easy to use, just make sure you have either a tape measure or scales and you will be set.

Apart from my sons being my main motivation, I also look at other people I know who have had 2 or more kids and have lost all their weight and look fantastic. I hate the way I look, I hate the way I feel and there are times I am embarrassed to go out. But this is going to change....

So follow me and see how I go, I also have two other blogs going, one for what I have been making and another one soley based on kids and activities.
